Exclusion in the return to cruising!

I can almost hear people screaming that I would dare to say this. But the simple fact of the matter is that there is a distinct group being excluded from the return to cruising…Young cruisers (okay so there is not many of us).

After a year in which we all stayed in our houses, talked via technology, scrubbed our hands raw and fervently looked forward to the day we would sail again. It seems that better days are on the horizon! But only for some of us…

As cruise lines gear up to return, offering domestic cruises for UK residents; there is one monumental hurdle standing in the way of some of us. In order to board the ship, you must have been vaccinated twice! Now, as I understand it in America how quickly you are vaccinated is entirely your own choice (any Americans feel free to correct me if I am wrong). But in the UK we have the National Health Service, there is no way to buy our way to the front of the line, that means we must wait our turn…

Us young cruisers will be bringing up the rear as the lowest priority group. As more and more cruise lines announce that they are making a return but specify that you must be vaccinated; I am just about ready to explode! Young cruisers, are some of the biggest advocates for the industry, with many of us on a mission to convert other young people to using cruise ships to explore the world.

It’s a shame the industry has thanked us by leaving us out in the cold.
